The New Global Harmonisation System

The new Global Harmonisation System (GHS) is being introduced worldwide to provide a comprehensive classification of chemicals and improve safety, health and the environment.

As of 1st December 2010 it is a requirement to classify and label substances according to GHS criteria.

From 1st June 2015 all mixtures must be classified and labelled in accordance with EU-GHS criteria. Mixtures already labelled with old labelling and packaging are permitted to be sold prior to 1st June 2017.

Some of the most important changes compared with the old directives are: Classification, Labelling and SDSs.
